TYPES OF COMPOUND WORDS
Closed compound words: When two fully independent, unique words are combined to form a new word, a closed compound word is formed.
Opened compound words : A compound is formed when two words are combined to form a new meaning.
Hyphenated compound words : The hyphen is a punctuation mark that is used to join words as well as to separate syllables within a single word. The use of hyphens is referred to as hyphenation.
