The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is accepted by immigration authorities worldwide. Some countries make it mandatory while others make it optional for people aspiring to go overseas. This method of language assessment is used as a means to control migration numbers. The scores differ from country to country, as well as their purpose. A General Test for migration would require an overall score of 7.5 / 8 (8/7/7/7/) depending on the country, while an Academic Test for higher studies would require an overall score of 6.5, but a master course would demand an overall band score of 7. This is the crux of what scores are required depending on the purpose/reason for the transition.
The purpose of the IELTS exam is to test the candidate’s ability to handle the English language for those who want to study or work in a country where English is the language of communication and is required for immigration purposes. One way of proving that you have the required English language proficiency is to get the required score, which will help you gain admission into top universities, apart from other reasons concerning migration.
It is a proven fact that many people speak good English, but in the IELTS exam your listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills will be assessed, and unless and until you get the desired scores, you will not be allowed to proceed and live your dreams. The exam requires you to concentrate on simple, compound, and complex sentences while writing your essay, and how you structure your sentences is vital for a good score.
IELTS will help you gain a better understanding and knowledge of the English language, while you become more familiar and conversant. This exam will help you in all walks of life let alone getting you overseas.
